D.A Beta Presentation

As stated in my Beta Presentation, I am exploring the world of artificial intelligence. This broad topic will be broken down into 3 sub-topics being:

  1. The history of artificial intelligence
  2. The predictions for the future of A.I in the home
  3. How A.I is perceived in popular movies

Part 1 has been uploaded to Youtube but I am struggling to find a way to build engagement on my first post. My videos aren’t overly complex therefore my audience could be anyone who is interested in entry-level knowledge into this topic, like myself.
Even though I tweeted out the link under the BCM325 hashtag, no other engagement aside from my own has occurred. This is definitely something I’ll need to think about when I upload part 2. Perhaps incorporating Reddit into the feedback aspect would be helpful, as I know they are brutally honest over there.

  1. Taylor, I think it’s a good idea that you decided to stick to a time frame of the next 10 years for your DA. Technology, especially AI is a fast changing field, and it can be overwhelming to try and tackle the boundless possibilities of the future of this area of tech. In regards to you being behind schedule all I can say is SAME GIRL and don’t panic. You have a really interesting topic with what you’ve discovered to be a 2-day making process, so you definitely have time to catch up. I also think that the video transcripts are a good idea, where would you be posting these? Also like you mentioned reddit is a great place to get feedback, however it is also a great place to find niche audiences. I would recommend posting your video content and transcripts to some subreddits, including; https://www.reddit.com/r/Futurology/, https://www.reddit.com/r/artificial/, https://www.reddit.com/r/MachineLearning/.

    Also, I found this article which paints an interesting picture of the use of AI in the home within the next 10 years. Whilst futurologist Peter Diamandis “says the rapid pace of technology should fill us with optimism not fear,” which I am inclined to be wary of, it has some great thinking. For instance;

    “Car ownership will be a thing of the past. You’ll turn your garage into a spare bedroom and your driveway into a rose garden. After breakfast in the morning you will walk towards the front door of your house. Your AI will know your schedule, it will see you moving and it will have an autonomous electric car waiting for you. It will know you didn’t get much sleep last night, so it will have pulled a car with a bed in the back so you can sleep on your way to work. Your commute time will be yours.” https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2020/jan/25/peter-diamandis-future-faster-think-interview-ai-industry
