Concept

‘The Fashion Forecast’ is a three-part blog series that explores the future of eCommerce. It is an industry that is ever-changing, trends are constantly shifting in an attempt to shape the way that people in every corner of the globe purchase products. This makes the future of eCommerce exciting as big changes are expected to evolve in the coming years. I aimed to look at the present and future of the online retail industry and make it a clear and insightful series that readers could engage with. It was important for me to address how far we have come today with technology and the different methods that have been adopted by retailers.

Methodology

My series was broken into three parts one being the present situation and two being the future predictions. These posts are located on my WordPress account under the #bcm325 and #fashionforecast hashtags. Originally I looked at creating a…

Live Tweeting Part 2

C H R I S T I N A

Part one of the live-tweeting movie screenings saw me want to build on my critical reflection of films and engage more with not only lecture material but audiences within the BCM cohort and beyond. Over the last seven weeks, I was able to broaden my skills and gradually gain more confidence and knowledge to better my engagement throughout the weekly live-tweeting sessions.

Week 6Ghost in the shell

For this week I conducted prior research into the film and the weekly lecture topic of  ‘futurists.’ This is something I had not done in previous weeks and I felt I was able to not only gain a bit more engagement but engage more with student discussions. This was a topic and film I enjoyed yet I still struggled to gain commentary on my posts. I tried to ask questions to the audience yet only received 1-2 replies.

Beta Commentary

Feedback in our Beta stages is crucial in helping each other improve, grow and execute our final projects. Below are my three comments posted to my fellow peers.

Julia’s topic focuses on social media platforms and how organisations are utilising contemporary tools and in particular what social media looks like in the future. For me, this was an interesting topic to discuss with Julia as I enjoy the topic of social media and in particular Marketing. I was able to understand Julias’s struggle in not receiving any students feedback as I faced the same difficulty so I advised her in trying Reddit which I noticed she had not mentioned. After watching her video essay series I noticed she had also not included any youtube hashtags which can be vital in gaining traction to your videos. I was also able to link her to a video indicating how to use hashtags on…

The Fashion Forecast BETA

C H R I S T I N A

The Fashion forecast is a three-part blog series where I create detailed blogs on the current and future state of our online retail industry. I aim to inform my audience of young students like myself that prefer the online shopping experience over regular in-store shopping. I have created two blog posts so far and aim to create at least two more to complete the series. Minor changes have been made to my digital artefact which includes the number of posts and the structure. I originally was just going to focus on the future but decided it would be beneficial to discuss where we are now and the changes that have come about since the beginning of online retail.

Live-tweeting part 1

C H R I S T I N A

Live-tweeting each week is a technique that has allowed me to engage in discussions, critically reflect and view the movie from a different standpoint while applying my future study theories. Over the first five weeks, I was able to broaden my skills and gradually gain more confidence and knowledge to better my engagement.

Note: I was unable to attend the first-week screening of Metropolis

Week 2 A Space Odyssey ( Kubrick 1968)

This was my first week of live-tweeting, I found it quite interesting to watch the film from a critical viewpoint and connect the storyline with the weekly topic of future thinking. I started my tweeting with background information that I felt would help the storyline and information that was interesting and relevant. For example, I utilized quotes from directors because I felt it was great in enhancing the storyline and giving a better understanding of how the narrative…

Pitch Commentary

During the iteration process, it is important to give feedback to one another in hopes of sharing ideas to better our digital artefacts.

Saxon’s digital artefact will focus on the future of the music industry particularly focusing on the rise of technology and social media. Saxons topic is similar to mine in the sense that we are both focusing on the future of a particular industry and the effects technology is having on the future. Saxon was unsure of what platform to utilise for his artefact, I suggested that considering he mentioned the copyright issue with Youtube that a blog format would possibly be the best option as he would be able to link all research making it easier for readers to follow along.

Upon my research of the future of music, I came across two sources that I felt could potentially assist Saxon’s area of study. The first article…
